Frequently asked questions about payment
What is included in the course price?
The course price includes the intake procedure, a final test, a certificate and a resit if necessary (free of charge if taken within six months of the end of the course).
The course price does not include the course material. The cost of this varies per course and is shown under the course information on the website. If you choose to follow lessons in class, you can buy your books through us. You then receive them during the first lesson. If you are going to take an online course, you will buy the books yourself.
Am I eligible for a discount?
If you have already taken a course at UvA Talen, you are eligible for a €50 discount. If you enrol using the same email address as for your previous course, this discount will be calculated automatically.
Are you a student at the University of Amsterdam or Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences? Then you receive a 20% discount on our group courses on presentation of your student ID card and proof of enrolment.
Are you studying at another university or university of applied sciences? Then you receive a €50 discount on presentation of your student ID card and proof of enrolment.

Are you are enrolling as a student or employee of the UvA or AUAS/HvA, or as an AUV member? Please upload a copy of your student ID card and proof of enrolment (student), AUV card (AUV member) or staff card (UvA-AUAS/HvA staff member) when enrolling. If your documentation does not meet our requirements, we will contact you by email about this. Please submit the correct documentation within five working days. If we have not received the correct documentation within this term, we will send you an extra invoice for the amount of the discount.
In addition to the above discount, we offer discounts to a number of companies and special offer rates at specific events (such as trade fairs) using a promotional code. Enter the code in the field provided when enrolling for the course.
The Terms and Conditions for Enrolment contain the conditions that apply to the use of promotional codes.
Is it possible to combine discounts?
It is not possible to combine discounts, with the exception of the discount for returning students (who have already taken a language course at UvA Talen). No other discount combinations are possible.
The Terms and Conditions for enrolment contain the conditions that apply to combined discounts.
Can I pay for the course using a loan from DUO?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay for your Dutch course at UvA Talen using a DUO loan for integration.
How do I pay for my course?
The course fee should be paid online immediately upon enrolment, by iDEAL or credit card. Once you have enrolled you will receive the invoice by email.
My employer is paying for my language course. How can I arrange for the invoice to be sent to my employer?
When enrolling you can indicate that the invoice will be paid by a company (employer, sponsor, your own company). You must then enter the address details of the organisation and the details of your contact so that we can check the invoice details are correct. Following this check we will send the invoice to your employer or sponsor.
Please note: once the invoice has been sent it is no longer possible to change the information.
My enrolment has been changed. How should I pay the difference in price? Or how will I be refunded the difference in price?
If a change needs to be made to your enrolment (for example due to your intake result) you may have to pay an extra amount (due to a higher course price). In this case you will receive an invoice for the additional amount which you can pay by bank transfer. If the new course price is lower, we will refund you the difference in price.
Can I pay for the course in instalments?
Unfortunately it is not possible to pay the invoice in instalments.
