Academic Dutch

Course information

The course Academic Dutch is suitable for students at universities and universities of applied science who would like to improve their academic language skills. You should already have a high level of Dutch proficiency: you are a native or near-native speaker but still lack vocabulary and writing skills.

Academic Dutch focuses primarily on improving your academic language skills in writing and speaking. For example, you will learn to write a paper, essay or thesis during the course. You will also work on your presentation skills: you will learn to give a brief presentation and to support it using PowerPoint. You will also develop your speaking skills by participating in group discussions with your fellow students.

After the course, you will be able to write academic texts that are clear, appealing and accurate. You will also be able to give a presentation and your speaking skills will have improved. In both your writing and presentations, you will be able to take account of your target audience, formulate clear and accurate sentences and apply a clear structure.
