Arabic level 6
Course information
The group course Arabic level 6 is for students whose Arabic is at an upper-intermediate level.
To take this course, you should be comfortable reading dialogues and short texts in Arabic with the help of a word list. Amongst other grammatical concepts, you should already have some practical knowledge of dual and plural forms of nouns and adjectives, describing the past, verb forms (yafʕal, yufaʕʕil, yatafaʕʕal, etc.), and weak verbs.
Arabic level 6 focuses on practical communication and vocabulary-building in Standard Arabic.
Topics that are dealt with during this course include news and media, climate and the environment, health and happiness, and the arts and cinema. Grammatical concepts include formal Arabic, the future tense, and conditionals.
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: questionnaireAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the Arabic level 5 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
