Chinese level 10
Course information
In the Chinese level 10 course, you will improve your Chinese skills at an advanced level. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- write a review of a book or play
- give study advice by comparing study programmes
- use 200 new Chinese words
Who is it for?
This is the language course for you if you already have a relatively high level of proficiency in Chinese. You speak spontaneous, fluent Chinese, when out shopping in China, for example. You are also able to speak or write about your emotions, in a WhatsApp message or in conversation. You will know approximately 1000 Chinese words.
What will you learn?
During the Chinese level 10 course, you improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills with reference to the topics of education, Beijing opera and various world views. For example, you learn to compare various study programmes and schools in order to advise someone on a choice of study. You will learn to read and write reviews after learning about Beijing opera. And you are able to discuss your view of China. How do people from other cultures view China? And how do Chinese people view other cultures?
During this Chinese course too, we prepare you for the HSK Chinese Proficiency Test. You will do HSK Chinese Proficiency Test level 4 practice tests, for example, in preparation of the intake and the final test.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- opposites such as 否则 (the other way round), 相反 (on the contrary) and 然而 (however)
- conjunctions such as 同时 (while), 随着 (besides) and 既然 (on condition that)
- new structures such 连 (equal), 够 (enough) and 大概 (approximately)
End level
The end level of Chinese level 10 is equivalent to three-quarters of level 4 of the HSK Chinese Proficiency Test (1200 words). This level is comparable to level B2 of the European Framework of Reference.
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interview, online testAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the Chinese level 9 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
