Dutch Academic Writing

Course information

The course Dutch Academic Writing is suitable for students at universities and universities of applied science who have difficulty writing academic texts. You must already have a high level of Dutch proficiency: you should be a native or near-native speaker of Dutch.

During this course, you will learn to write clear academic texts. The skills you will learn will prove useful throughout your studies, which makes the course especially suitable for students who have just started and are struggling to write essays and papers. However, the course can also be taken as preparation for writing a thesis.

After completing the course Dutch Academic Writing, you will be able to write clear, accurate and appealing texts that meet the requirements set for academic writing. You will learn to formulate a central question and sub questions and to structure your answer effectively. You will learn to divide the writing process into different stages, enabling you to write academic texts more quickly and effectively.

Throughout the course, you will gain plenty of practice in order to improve your writing skills: you will write an academic text of 1,000 to 1,200 words, immediately applying in practice what you have learnt. This article will be assessed at the end of the course.
