English Elementary 1
Course information
The course English Elementary 1 is suitable for students who already have some knowledge of English. For example, you should be able to ask and answer simple questions about people, family, work and food and drink, and have an understanding of basic grammar.
During English Elementary 1 you will further expand your basic understanding of English. For example, you will learn how to tell a story or give a short description of something or someone, to make an appointment and to give someone directions. You will do this sentence by sentence, but you will also learn to form simple compound sentences using ‘and’, ‘but’ and ‘so’.
By the end of this course you will be able to write short texts, such as an invitation or a blog on a familiar subject. You will be able to read texts that you encounter frequently in daily life, for example in a supermarket (names and descriptions of products), a food blog or a short biography of a famous person.
Grammar covered in English Elementary 1 includes the present tense and the past tense (my grandmother was a doctor). Attention will also be paid to adverbs (sometimes, usually, never, etc.) and the personal pronouns mine, yours, his, hers and theirs.
