French level 5
Course information
The French level 5 course is taught at intermediate level. This means that you need to have mastered the basics of French to be able to take this course. For example, you must know all the basic grammar, be able to hold brief conversations about everyday topics and be able to give your opinion.
During the course, you will develop the language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in French. Grammar and vocabulary are also part of the course.
After completing French level 5, you will be able to write longer texts about topics you are familiar with, linking paragraphs in a natural fashion. To do this, you use grammatical constructions to indicate that something happens before, after or simultaneously.
You are able to understand the content of many TV programmes and radio broadcasts if you are familiar with the topics. In addition, you can speak about your experiences, memories, dreams and plans. You are also able to recount the storyline or the plot of a play or a film and give your opinion about it.
The grammar covered in this course includes the difference between the past perfect tense and the imperfect tense (for example, il avait parlé à son père and il parlait à son père), possessive pronouns (ma, mon, ta, ton, notre, leur, etc.) and the use of y and en.
