German level 2
Course information
In the German level 2 course, you will expand your basic German skills. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- write a holiday postcard or text someone
- understand simple instructions, for example advice from a physician
- read posts on an internet forum
Who is it for?
The German level 2 course is the right course for you if you already have some knowledge of German. You can, for example, ask for directions and be able to tell time. You can talk about what you like and have knowledge about the present tense, Nominative (first case), Accusative (fourth case) and plural.
What will you learn?
During German level 2, you will learn how to read and write in German, to speak and to understand spoken German. Grammar and vocabulary are also an important part of the course.
After the course, you will be able to talk about the weather, the weekend and your work. You will be able to give someone directions and accept or decline an invitation and hold a simple telephone conversation. In a shop, you will be able to ask a question about clothing, for example. You will be able to describe yourself and your home and talk to a physician about your health.
Of course, attention will be paid to pronunciation.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- connecting sentences using “und”, “oder”, “aber” and “denn” (conjunctions)
- dative prepositions (third case)
- question words, for example “welch”
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interviewAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the German Beginners course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
