German level 3

Course information

In the German level 3 course, you will improve your basic German skills. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:

  • buy a metro ticket or entry ticket
  • hold a telephone conversation
  • write a text about a film or a city

Who is it for?

The German level 3 course is the right course for you if you have already mastered the basics of German. For example, you can already read an advertisement, talk about what you like and hold a short telephone conversation.

What will you learn?

During this course, you will improve your German reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Grammar and vocabulary are an important part of the course, and attention is paid to pronunciation.

Once you have completed the German level 3 course, you will find it increasingly easy to engage in everyday conversations, for example in the supermarket, at the baker’s or in a café. You will be able to ask for directions and understand the answer, provided the other person is speaking slowly and clearly. You will be able to give your opinion and indicate whether you agree with something.

You will be able to understand different types of texts, such as a homepage, a blog or a newspaper article. You will be able to read and write short, personal messages and emails, for example to make an appointment. You will be able to make subordinate clauses using “weil”, “dass” and “wenn”. You will be able to make comparisons, and use reflexive verbs.

And grammar?

The grammar you learn more about during this course includes:

  • genitive (second case)modal auxiliary verbs in past tense
  • articles: definite and indefinite, possessive and negative
  • “werden” as a notional verb
If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a certificate showing the level you have attained and you will be able to continue to German level 4.
