German level 6
Course information
Upon completing the German level 6 course, you will have a thorough and complete knowledge of basic German. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- summarise an informative text
- follow a spontaneous conversation or discussion, even if it is spoken faster
- read and write letters and emails
Who is it for?
This general language training course is designed for those students who have intermediate knowledge of the German language.
What will you learn?
During this course, you will increasingly expand your active language skills. The primary focus of the course is an expansion of your proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in German. Of course, attention will be paid to pronunciation.
After the course, you will find that you can express your feelings in a conversation, give your opinion, and have a lively discussion. You will be able to give someone advice and offer your help. After the course, you will be able to give a presentation and talk about money matters and precisely describe people and things.
You will be able to write a message or communication in which you give your opinion and be able to create a PowerPoint presentation. You will be able to read informative texts offline and online and understand their details, and you will be able to read extensive business emails.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- past perfect tense
- subordinate clauses with adverbs of time: bevor, nachdem, etc.
- reflexive pronouns in the dative and accusative (mir/mich)
- adjectives and their declensions
- passive voice
- negations with “nicht” (not)
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interviewAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the German level 5 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
