German level 7

Upon completing the German level 7 course, you will have a thorough and complete knowledge of basic German. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:

• comprehend the structure of different texts (title, introduction, etc.)
• understand interviews and dialogues
• write a summary

Who is it for?

This general language training course is designed for those students who have advanced knowledge of the German language.

What will you learn?

During this course, you will increasingly expand your active language skills. The primary aim of this course is to develop your German proficiency, building on your existing knowledge, so that you can express ideas and viewpoints in German with reasonable confidence and accuracy, both orally and in writing. Understanding radio messages with facts and opinions and being able to have conversations on various topics such as the weather and work are also part of the objective.

By the end of this course, you will be able to comprehend newspaper articles properly, as well as blogs, messages and other short, personal texts. You will be able to understand job ads and write a letter of application, including your curriculum vitae. You will be able to write texts about complex and abstract topics, for example about your wishes for the future. You will be able to talk about personal experiences and be able to give and substantiate your opinion. You will also be able to give a short presentation, summarise films and describe photos.

And grammar?

The grammar you learn during this course includes:

• word order and sentence structure
• negation (kein, nicht)
• comparative sentences (als, wie, je…desto)
• use of the word “es”
• two-part conjunctions (nicht nur…sondern auch, etc.)
• relative clauses
• indefinite pronouns
• passive voice
