Italian level 5
Course information
Italian level 5 is an intermediate course. To take this course you should have a good command of basic Italian language skills: you can conduct short conversations in a range of situations (at work, at the doctor's, personal life) in the present and past tense, and you can read short stories, blog articles and instructions.
During Italian level 5 you will learn active speaking proficiency, also in a conversation with several participants. Provided they speak slowly and clearly, you can follow the conversation and take an active part in it, for example by expressing your opinion or emotions or by making suggestions. You are also well able to conduct a telephone conversation.
Following this course you will be able to write about things, places and people. You will be able to express your opinion well, verbally and in writing, for example about what makes you happy or scared. You can read short stories and novels as well as understanding biographical descriptions, for example on Wikipedia.
Grammar covered during this course includes various forms of the past tense: trapassato prossimo, congiuntivo passato, imperfetto and passato remoto. You will also learn to make passive constructions, using essere (to be) and venire (to come).
