Japanese Beginners
Course information
The course Japanese Beginners is for absolute beginners who want to start learning the Japanese language. The course covers all basic grammar and vocabulary you need in order to develop your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
At the end of the course you will be able to read and understand typical expressions and sentences written in Hiragana and Katakana. You will also be able to pick up key information from short conversations spoken slowly, to understand it, and to form a suitable response.
During Japanese Beginners, you will learn around 180 words of the Hiragana and Katakana syllabic alphabets. You can learn the 15 Kanji (Chinese characters) through self-study. Your teacher will be happy to provide you with the information needed to support your efforts. You will learn how to greet people and how to describe straightforward situations in simple sentences, using the present and past tense. These simple sentences build the foundation for more complex sentences that enable you to express yourself more freely in the Japanese language.
The end level of Japanese Beginners is equivalent to a quarter of level N5 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
