We offer both online and in-class courses at our location in Amsterdam. At the bottom of the course page in the course schedule you can choose either online or in-class. At the moment we don’t offer any hybrid classes.

Course information

The language course Portuguese Beginners is for those who have no knowledge at all of the Portuguese language. During the course you will quickly develop a basic knowledge of reading, writing, speaking and listening in Portuguese. Basic grammar and vocabulary are also an important part of the course.

Portuguese Beginners is the perfect course for you if you want to learn the basic principles of Portuguese, for example for holiday, work or study. Things you will learn include how to ask for directions, to ask what time it is, to count, colours, ordering food and buying a ticket for public transport. You will be able to understand responses, provided they are spoken slowly and clearly. This knowledge will enable to you use Portuguese in a hotel, shop, bank or estate agent, for example.

Upon completion of the course you will be able to talk about yourself and your immediate surroundings. You will be able to introduce yourself, tell something about your family and say where you live and work. You will also be able to ask someone to do something for you, for example by writing a short note or letter or an email.

Grammar covered during the course includes use of the present tense and the imperative.

If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a certificate showing the level you have attained and you will be able to continue to Portuguese level 2.

The course material is not included in the course price. If you choose to follow lessons in class, you can buy your books through us. You then receive them during the first lesson. If you are going to take an online course, you will buy the books yourself.
