Russian Beginners
Course information
If you don't speak any Russian at all, or you haven't progressed beyond borsjtsj and do svidanija, then Russian Beginners is the right course for you. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- write in Cyrillic script (block capitals, cursive optional)
- understand simple sentences (about where you live, your nationality and your work)
- talk about your family (brothers, sisters etc.).
Who is it for?
The Russian Beginners course is perfect for you if you want to start learning Russian from scratch, for example for a holiday, work experience or to study in Russia.
What will you learn?
During Russian Beginners, you will learn how to read and write in Russian, to speak and to understand spoken Russian. Grammar and vocabulary are an important part of the course.
Much of what you learn will be perfect for use during a holiday in Russia. You will be able to:
- read a simplified menu text and place a simple order in a café or restaurant
- tell something about yourself, such as your name, age and nationality and what you do for a living
- write down your plans in a diary
You will also learn to hear the difference between hard and soft consonants, you will learn the Russian alphabet and the rules for reduction and assimilation.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- determining the gender of nouns and using the correct personal and possessive pronouns
- using the two types of verb conjugation in the present tense and using the basic verbs in the correct form of the present tense
- forming the past tense of verbs
