Russian level 10
Course information
Upon completing the Russian level 10 course, you will have a thorough and complete knowledge of basic Russian. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- write stories and essays based on specific questions and texts you have read (for example, re-telling a story from the perspective of another character)
- understand most of the information when reading short and medium-length texts on topics covered in class
- prepare an oral presentation in which you tell about an experience, preference or point of view
Who is it for?
This general language training course is designed for those students who have advanced knowledge of the Russian language.
What will you learn?
During this course, you will increasingly expand your active language skills. The primary aim of this course is to develop your Russian proficiency, building on your existing knowledge, so that you can express ideas and viewpoints in Russian with reasonable confidence and accuracy, both orally and in writing.
After this course you will have expanded your vocabulary with regard to getting to know someone and clothing, so you can, for example, conduct a conversation on someone’s biography or taste in clothes. You will be able to perform complex communicative tasks: expressing and defending your opinion, discussing various topics and backing up your views, and taking part in discussions based on a themed vocabulary that was studied earlier and is now being revisited. You will also have developed the skill to understand the meaning of new words based on the context and your knowledge of how words are formed in Russian.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- the particular use of collective numerals (двое, трое, etc.) and the associated noun
- converting direct speech into indirect speech
- using the aspect forms of the imperative
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interview, questionnaireAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the Russisch level 9 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
