Russian level 7
Course information
Upon completing the Russian level 7 course, you will have a thorough and complete knowledge of basic Russian. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- understand the core meaning of an audio text and extract relevant information
- extract the essence of texts on topics covered in class and find specific information in the texts
- write extensive sentences on topics covered in class
Who is it for?
Russian level 7 is intended for students with a reasonable knowledge of the Russian language. During this course, you will further expand your active language skills.
What will you learn?
The overall aim of the course is to improve your proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing in Russian.
After this course you will have expanded your vocabulary with regard to interests, travel, tourism and adventure, appearance and character traits. You will learn to ask for and give directions and how to describe someone's appearance and character. You will also develop the ability to understand humour as an organic part of natural language communication.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- the meaning of the prefixes used in verbs of movement (по-, в-, вы-, при-, у-, пере-, за-) and the associated prepositions, and how to use the most commonly occurring of these
- becoming familiar with the principles of word formation in Russian (using verbs with the root -каз-, indefinite pronouns with the prefix кое- and the suffixes -то, -либо, -нибудь)
- making active use of various forms of adjectives (short form, comparative and superlative, including exceptions)
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interview, questionnaireAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the Russian level 6 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
