Russisch level 9
Course information
Upon completing the Russian level 9 course, you will have a thorough and complete knowledge of basic Russian. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- understand the core meaning of an audio text and extract relevant information
- extract the essence of texts on topics covered in class and find specific information in the texts
- understand the meaning of new words based on the context and your knowledge of how words are formed in Russian
Who is it for?
This general language training course is designed for those students who have intermediate knowledge of the Russian language.
What will you learn?
During this course, you will increasingly expand your active language skills. The primary focus of the course is an expansion of your proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing in Russian.
After this course you will have expanded your vocabulary with regard to travel, tourist attractions, weather and leisure time. You will be able to conduct a conversation on the weather or the climate and about distinctive features of leisure activities in various cities and countries. You will be able to put together a short programme for a tourist trip and to describe the characteristics of the weather or climate in your city or country. While listening to spoken Russian you will be able to identify important arguments, details, key words, examples and specific information such as dates, numbers, proper nouns and geographical names.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- becoming familiar with the particular formation and use of indefinite pronouns and adverbs (with the suffixes -то, -либо, -нибудь and the prefix кое-)
- using verbs of motion with prefixes with a spatial meaning
- revising the use of the prepositions в and на with geographical names, and за, на, через in expressions of time
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interview, questionnaireAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the Russian level 8 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
