Arabic level 2
Course information
The group course Arabic level 2 improves your general Arabic language skills. This course is very hands-on: While other Arabic courses emphasize grammatical details that most native Arab speakers do not actually use in everyday communication, this course focuses on everyday language and practical communication skills.
Arabic level 2 is the right course for you if you already know the entire Arabic alphabet and are able to read whole words and some simple sentences in Arabic. In addition, you should know how to use the singular forms of the verb in the present tense (e.g. he writes) and how to make possessive phrases (my pen).
At the end of Arabic level 2, you are comfortable reading dialogues and short texts with the help of a word list. Topics include countries and people, counting, colours, eating and drinking, and travel. You will know how to use numbers, pronouns and present and future tenses in all persons including dual and plural.
Like all Arabic courses at UvA Talen, the Arabic variety taught in this course is Standard Arabic, the language understood in all Arab countries and used in the media.
