Chinese level 11
Course information
In the Chinese level 11 course, you will improve your Chinese skills at a high level. After this course you will, among other things, be able to:
- write a food blog or recipe
- debate matters concerning the environment and technology
- use 200 new Chinese words
After completing this course, your proficiency level will be high enough for you to take the HSK Chinese Proficiency Test at level 4.
Who is it for?
This is the language course for you if you already have a high level of proficiency in Chinese. You are able to engage in conversation about various topics, such as Chinese culture and Beijing opera, in spontaneous, fluent Chinese. You can also give study advice. You will know approximately 1200 Chinese words.
What will you learn?
During the Chinese level 11 course, you improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills with reference to the topics of nature, the environment, technology, travel in China, social media and cooking. You will learn to make a vlog about food and to write a food blog. You will watch short documentaries about the environment and technology and will debate these issues with your fellow students. After the course, you will know your way about Chinese social media.
During this Chinese course too, we prepare you for the HSK Chinese Proficiency Test. You will do HSK Chinese Proficiency Test level 4 practice tests, for example, in preparation of the intake and the final test.
And grammar?
The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- expressions that add meaning, 到底 (at last) and 总的来说 (in general)
- new grammatical structures, such as 为了…而… (regarding) and 拿…来说 (for example)
- the prepositions 接着 (next to), 除此以外 (except) and 上 (in)
End level
After completing this course, your proficiency level will be high enough for you to take the HSK Chinese Proficiency Test at level 4. This level is comparable to level B2 of the European Framework of Reference. You will know approximately 1400 Chinese words.
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interview, online testAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the Chinese level 10 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
