Dutch Proficiency 1
Course information
Do you already have a high level of proficiency in the Dutch language, but want to improve your Dutch still further? If so, the Dutch Proficiency 1 course is ideal for you. During the course, you will further enhance your proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing Dutch. You will also learn new areas of grammar.
To participate in the course, you will already need to have a high level of proficiency in Dutch. For example, you will already be able to understand lectures and conversations, even about less familiar subjects. You should also have a good active command of the language: you can speak about your feelings, express your opinion and give advice and have no problems writing a letter of complaint, report, set of instructions or essay.
In the Dutch Proficiency 1 course, you will learn to speak about a wide range of subjects, including at a formal event or business meeting. You will also learn to strike the right tone and respond effectively when someone speaks to you. After the course, you will be able to read many types of text (including business correspondence) and write about a variety of subjects, in persuasive texts, summaries, reports and press releases. You will also be able to understand long, complicated texts and business emails.
Grammar covered during the course will include conjunctions (want, zodat, toen, etc.), indirect speech (hij vroeg of…), relatve pronouns (het meisje dat…), the use of ‘er’ and the imperative mood (eet je bord leeg!).
