We offer both online and in-class courses at our location in Amsterdam. At the bottom of the course page in the course schedule you can choose either online or in-class. At the moment we don’t offer any hybrid classes.

Course information

Brazilian level 3 is intended for students with a basic knowledge of Brazilian Portuguese. To take this course you should already be able to hold brief conversations about yourself and your immediate surroundings. You can also talk or write about something in the present tense and the past tense.

Upon completion of Brazilian level 3 you will be able to read and comprehend online blog articles and news items, provided they are about a familiar subject. You will be able to tell or write something about someone, for example ele é simpático or ele é antipático. You will also be able to ask someone to say something about themselves, for example their health: você está doente? (are you ill?).

Grammar covered during the course includes the imperative (corte o cabelo!). You will also learn adjectives that help you to describe other people (gordo, magro, bem-humorado, chato, etc.) and typical Brazilian Portuguese expressions, such as falar pelos cotovelos and estar com dor-de-cotovelo.

If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a certificate showing the level you have attained and you will be able to continue to Brazilian level 4.

Assessment

The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interview

After you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure.

If you have completed the Brazilian level 2 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.

The course material is not included in the course price. If you choose to follow lessons in class, you can buy your books through us. You then receive them during the first lesson. If you are going to take an online course, you will buy the books yourself.
