French level 10
Course information
In the French level 10 course you will take your language skills to a higher degree of proficiency. After this course you will be able to:
- Speak and write about political and social issues
- Participate in a social discussion
- Ask someone's opinion, for example in a survey
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for you if you can speak French at a high level. For example, you can engage in everyday conversations with ease, you can express yourself fluently and read French books.
What will you learn?
During French level 10 you will improve your French reading, writing, listening and speaking skills by exploring the world beyond your personal circle, as the course pays a lot of attention to social issues. Topics for discussion during the course may include such things as the legalisation of cannabis, the influence of digitalisation on young people and compulsory vaccination.
Once you have completed this course you will be able to take part in a debate or discussion on these and other political topics. You will also learn how to prepare a debate or discussion in French, how to substantiate your opinion and how to ask for and respond to other people's opinions.

The grammar you learn during this course includes:
- Comparisons: bon, bien, mieux, meilleur
- Dates, days and months: en mars, début mars, le 3 mars, jeudi 3 mars, au mois de mars
Other grammar depends on your needs and wishes and those of your fellow students.
Assessment
The intake procedure for this course comprises: intake interview, online testAfter you have registered for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure. If you have completed the French level 9 course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
